Questions, answered
Do employees need to download an app?
No. dastur is a browser-based web app: employees open a link on their phone and can add it to their home screen, where it opens full-screen like a native app. There's nothing to install from an app store.
Can it replace our punch-card or badge time clock?
Yes. Employees clock in and out on their own phones instead of swiping a card, and GPS confirms they're on site. You can retire the card reader and stop replacing lost badges.
How accurate is the GPS check?
Phones usually report their position to within 5 to 20 meters outdoors, and less precisely indoors. You pick a geofence between 10 and 500 meters per site; 50 to 150 meters leaves room for normal GPS drift while still requiring people to be there. If a phone's location is too rough to check, dastur asks the employee to move instead of guessing.
What happens without a signal?
The app still opens and tells the employee they're offline. Punching in or out needs a connection, because every punch is verified on our servers.
What counts as late or leaving early?
Each employee has a scheduled shift. Clocking in more than 5 minutes after the start is flagged as late, and clocking out more than 5 minutes before the end is flagged as an early leave.
Can I export hours for payroll?
Yes. Export any day's time logs as a CSV with scheduled times, actual punches, hours worked and status for every employee.
